Butch Bowers and Deborah Barbier, who were previously Trump’s lead impeachment lawyers, have left the team per a “mutual decision.”

1 Week to go until the impeachment trial

The Associated Press, via Global News, reported that the move reflected a difference of opinion related to the direction in which the case was going.

In addition, CNN has suggested that Josh Howard, Johnny Gasser and Greg Harris have also left the team, leaving Trump with no known defence attorneys ahead of the case.

New additions to the legal team are expected to be confirmed soon, although the trial is scheduled for February 8, 2021.

The former leader is facing charges for his role in inciting the riots that took place at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

It’s the second time he’s faced impeachment charges during his four-year term as American president.
