This little village outside of Vancouver is tucked away from the busyness of the city, with a calm inlet dotted by boats and picturesque mountains enclosing it. The streets of this community are filled with quaint coffee shops, charming boutiques, and vibrant galleries.

It's a pocket of peacefulness nestled within North Vancouver, where you have nature at your doorstep, city amenities a few minutes away, and small town charm in spades.

Deep Cove was recently given some praise on the Narcity Facebook Page. We asked what people's favourite hidden gem in Canada are, and among other magical destinations — like Ontario's Manitoulin Island and Atlantic Canada's Bay of Fundy — was Deep Cove.

Flanked by the beautiful North Shore mountains and the calm of the Burrard Inlet, this is a go-to afternoon escape for people in Vancouver. Its idyllic setting has you embracing a slower pace as you wander in and out of the local storefronts and take in the scenery.

You'll see kayaks frequently launching off of the waterfront here, and if you want to explore the coastline, you can rent one. Tours can also take you around the area, which is even more stunning from the water.

If you're up for some more activity you can also hike up Quarry Rock here, which leads you to a breathtaking lookout. After a day out exploring you can head into town for a bite to eat.

There are lots of businesses here to check out, but Honey Doughnuts & Goodies in a famous spot. Celebrities, including Kate Winslet and John Cena, have frequented the donut spot to try out their legendary treats.

If you're in Vancouver and craving an afternoon away, or are planning a trip to the West Coast, this charming village should be on your itinerary.
