Someone on a beach. Right: A beach.

An Alberta beach.

This lakeside getaway in Alberta will make you feel like you're on a coastal vacation, with its wide open waters, sandy beach and picturesque views.

Nothing says summer like beach days, and despite Alberta not having the ocean beach towns you might be dreaming of, this place gets pretty close.

The Summer Village of Ma-Me-O Beach sits on the beautiful Pigeon Lake. With soft sand, a little village and stunning views — this is the perfect summer getaway.

It's about two and a half hours away from Calgary, so you can do a day trip here or make it a weekend getaway.

The lake is vast so sitting on the shore looking out onto the wide open water, it almost feels like the ocean coast.

Then you have the boats bobbing in the water, the quaint ice cream stand, and small community to top it all off.

There's also campgrounds nearby to stay at, if you want to fully embrace the lake life and spend a weekend outdoors.

If you're itching for a getaway from the city with fresh air, beautiful nature and water to cool off in — this is the spot to go.
