If you’re wondering if you may have to repay the CERB, the federal government has got you covered.

On the Government of Canada website, a multiple-choice mini quiz has been designed to help Canadians figure out whether or not they may need to return the Canada Emergency Response benefit (CERB).

To start off, claimants are asked to select the situation that applies to them.

There are options like “earned more income than expected during the time you received the CERB payment” and “applied for the CERB but later realized you’re not eligible,” among others.

Applicants then need to select the date period for which they applied, before confirming when they received the money.

Questions about income then follow, with an answer about whether the benefit needs to be repaid shared shortly after.

It’s a helpful resource for Canadians who may be confused about CERB repayments.

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) confirmed in December that around 441,000 CERB applicants had been contacted about repaying the benefit, many of whom were confused about the original eligibility criteria.
