A 62-year-old Ontario resident is now facing several charges after allegedly shooting a neighbour with an air gun over the weekend.

According to the OPP, officers responded to a weapons call at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Sunday night at an apartment complex on Washington Crescent in Elliot Lake.

"Investigation determined the complainant attended the apartment next door to ask the neighbour to turn the television down. Once permission was granted to enter the apartment the neighbour then shot the complainant in the arm with an air gun," an excerpt from the police report reads.

Police later arrested the suspect and seized the weapon while the victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, Gary Basler, has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
