A major collision between two transport trucks has shut down the eastbound express lanes of Highway 401 for investigation and cleanup. UPDATE: All lanes but one have been cleared. One right lane remains blocked due to the collision. EARLIER: The 401 crash occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning, according to the OPP Highway Safety Division, and left one of the drivers trapped for over an hour. "It really is a miracle that they were able to get the driver out and get him to hospital," OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said to CP24. The incident has also affected Allen Road and according to NewsTalk1010, MTO officials will assess for structural issues. The eastbound express lanes remain closed between Highway 400 to around Yonge. According to the OPP, the priority is to get express lanes open as early as possible. As of now, there are no updates.
