One Ontario MPP is now getting ejected from the Conservative party after publicly stating that Ontario's lockdown is actually "deadlier" than COVID-19. \nRoman Baber, MPP for York Centre, released a statement on Friday morning sharing his thoughts behind the new measures. \nEditor's Choice: Justin Trudeau Just Listed All The COVID-19 Benefits Canadians Can Get & What They're For\n\n\n\n“\n\n\nEffective immediately, Mr. Baber will no longer be sitting as a member of the PC Caucus and will not be permitted to seek re-election as a PC member.\n\n\nDoug Ford\n\n\nBaber argues that the lockdowns have not been successful in curbing COVID-19 cases, but they have increased Ontario's overdose rates, mental health problems and eating disorders.\nDue to these claims, the MPP called on Doug Ford to end the lockdown. \nHowever, Doug Ford later responded to the letter, stating that Baber is spreading "misinformation." \nIn a letter from the premier, obtained by Narcity, he states, "Mr. Baber’s comments are irresponsible."\n"By spreading misinformation he is undermining the tireless efforts of our frontline health care workers at this critical time, and he is putting people at risk. I will not jeopardize a single Ontarian’s life by ignoring public health advice." \nFord also acknowledged how "devastating" these measures can be for some people, but the health and safety of Ontarians is his "number one priority." \nDue to this, the premier announced that Baber has been removed as a member of the PC Caucus, effective immediately.
